Betta fish normally suffer from
betta fish illnesses especially when it is
your first time caring for betta fish or you are not yet well-versed with the
possible illnesses that may come your way. Thus, I would like to share with you
some of those that may afflict your fish and even cause sudden death.
Symptoms:
Fish stays at the bottom of your tank and only surfaces for some time to
breathe. It is more likely that you have dirty water and any betta fish
illnesses may be harmful to your fish.
Betta fish
refuses to eat which means that there may be possible parasites
in your fish or there is possible bacteria infection.
Betta appears to be swollen. Betta fish illnesses such as this are caused by
Parasitic Cysts and can be treated by changing water and treating with salt.
Your fish may be experiencing difficulty in breathing caused by
low oxygen
or high chemical levels in your tank. If your fish is experiencing this, its
body becomes weakened and can be easily inflected with any betta fish
illnesses.
Betta fish lose color. This can also be cause by low oxygen and is advisable
to install air pump. Monitoring oxygen levels should be a good practice also.
Betta fish illnesses can also be cause by ornaments in the tank or by other
fishes they live together with. Betta fish in this case will have Cloudy Eyes
or even to the extent of having one or both eyes bulge outwards. Illnesses like
this are also said to be cause by
dirty water.
